In this role, you will play a crucial part in the high quality medical care for animals. Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians during exams, surgical procedures, and other treatments.
  • Conduct laboratory work and run diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Administer prescribed medications and carry out treatment plans.
  • Deliver attentive nursing care for pets staying in the hospital.
  • Observe and record patient vital signs and changes in condition.
  • Communicate with clients about their pets’ health and preventive care.
  • Document medical information accurately in patient files.
  • Keep the clinic environment clean, sanitary, and well-organized.
  • Track, restock, and manage medical supplies and equipment.
  • Perform additional tasks and provide assistance as directed.

Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a veterinary clinic setting.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  • Experience with electronic patient records system
  • Experience with preventative care.
  • Strong knowledge of vaccine and care schedules
  • Familiarity with animal husbandry practices and kennel management.
  • Ability to effectively handle and restrain animals safely.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist veterinarians during physical exams, diagnostics, and surgical procedures.
• Intubate patients and monitor anesthesia closely throughout surgical procedures
• Place IV catheters and administer fluid therapy.
• Draw blood samples and perform in-house laboratory testing, including CBCs, chemistry panels, urinalysis, and cytology.
• Conduct fecal floats, SNAP tests, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Administer SQ, IM, and IV injections, including medications and vaccines.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including surgical site clipping, scrubbing, and maintaining sterile technique.
• Take and process digital radiographs (including dental/ultrasound if applicable).
• Handle and care for exotic species (e.g., reptiles, birds, small mammals).
• Operate and maintain in-house diagnostic equipment, including Zoetis and IDEXX machines.
• Communicate clearly with clients regarding treatment plans, medication instructions, and discharge procedures.
• Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date patient medical records.
• Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of exam rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas.

Qualifications:
• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of clinical experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with technical skills such as intubation, catheter placement, and in-house diagnostics.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure.
• A passion for animal health and patient care.
